This is my second book from this company, the first one was a book I did as a result from getting a email from the company asking me to review one of their books , the results of which you can read in my previous blog. Doing this book was as a result of me asking them if I could do a review on their layflat book, again I had seen these books at the show but they were not yet available as far as I can remember, I do remember how much time I spent at their stand and how much I enjoyed looking through this book they produced that I had to someday get my own book like this.
So when the company said they would love for me to do a review of the layflat I was super stoked and jumped at the opportunity. The book is done online right from their website, no downloading any software just straight from their site, which is pretty handy. You decide the size, paper, cover, colour, number of pages and from their its basically drag and drop after you upload all the images you want to use.
You have 3 paper choices Canno Lustre, Gloss or Satin Satin is the thinner of the 3 papers at 170g/m while the other two are both 275 g/m. The material used for the cover are from natural materials in a lovely earthy choice of colours and these books are all hardcovers. The colour reproduction and detail on these papers are phenomenal, on the Lustre some of the images look 3D ish and that just shows me the depth that the paper and colour render to the image.
Production time is 5 working days and once shipped, shipping time will depend on where you stay in the world, I waited about 4 days. The book arrived not as well packaged as I thought it might considering the cost of the book, when I questioned them about it, they assured me it was not the norm, and I would think not as the book Is not cheap and anyone ordering a book of this nature would expect it to be properly protected.
The book is masterfully bound with the pages laying pretty flat when opened, I chose the 12x12 so when opened you have on display a gorgeous 12x24 image if you have chosen a full bleed image, when I tell you the image’s literally want to jump out at you I truly mean that. One thing you need to understand about this book is that if your image is not sharp you will notice it in the print as it is that detailed, so please be sure that you have really good images for this book. The pages are a joy to flip, they feel good and it feels like you are holding something special hence I like to wear my white cotton gloves, for me it just makes the experience just that little more special./
There was however one minor problem on one of the pages, I did contact them and they would have fixed the problem without hesitation, on one of the pages there was what looked like a dust mark with a slight white blotchy mark in the image, fairly small, for me, if I was paying for this book I would have wanted it rectified which Artibo were willing to do so do not fear if there is a genuine issue with the book they will sort it out.
So in conclusion, if you are looking for a book to promote your business which requires a portfolio of images I am truly happy to make use of this book again and do recommend them to you, you will be more than happy with the book, It is elegant, professional and you can, with confidence place it before clients to impress them.
